Hello all, I hope someone will be able and willing to answer a scripting question for me. I am curious as to if it is possible to have a scripted object that allows one avi to sit in it, and another to pull or push it. The idea is something like a Radio Flyer wagon. The avi who is pulling the wagon would be the one who controls its direction while the passenger is just along for the ride. If this is possible, how difficult would it be for someone who can do very little scripting? Can someone point me in the right direction perhaps? Thank you for your help with this,
~Dawn.

The typical way to do this is to make the object a vehicle and have the avatar who is "pulling/pushing/etc." it actually be seated on it and acting as a driver, but animated as if they were standing/walking/whatever instead of sitting. While it is possible to do it other ways (e.g. have the object tag along with some kind of follower script instead), the results are usually unsatisfactory.

Ty so much for your reply Hewee. Would you know how to go about doing this for a person with so little scripting knowledge? Perhaps there is a freebie script I can modify that will allow me to us the vehicle method? Maybe there is a vehicle script set for dummies even? Ty again for your help, ~Dawn

Dawn, I am absolutely terrible at scripting, but over time in SL I have become competent enough to be able to work with scripts and even sometimes I have bastardized a script and it works! In your situation you can do two things, search for scripts in this thread or the scripting library that may do what your looking for, animation, flying, sailing, driving etc and try and get your head around what combination may work for you, or put a request in products wanted and see if a scripter is willing to make said script. I have done this a few times, most times I get what I need, sometimes for a small fee, sometimes if I'm really lucky for free.

Look here, there is an actual script as well as it explains how it works. http://www.heatonresearch.com/articles/188/page2.htmlJust copy the code and paste it into a blank SL script. You will need a walking animation. That can't be hard to find, people are obsessed with AO's, lol
