Does anyone know if this affects the return from llRequestAgentData for DATA_ONLINE? I use this in vendors for determining how to notify the owner about various events.
There should be a way for an object to at least know if it's owner is online or maybe a permission to get the data.

from what I can tell, the ONLY thing this affects is the "green icons" in the people search.
online status indicators, friends lists, etc should be unaffected.

Well in the blog post it says *** Friends can see your Online status if you give permission via the Friends list
*** Preferences have changed, so you may now ensure privacy from anyone except friends granted permission by checking ‘Make my online status visible only to my Friends’. If you choose not to check this box, then your online status will be visible to everyone.
If this is actually going to be useful, it has to hide you from llRequestAgentData, but that means that your vendors won't see you either unless you are considered a friend of yourself and you've allowed friends to see you. |
