Concert attack

I was at a live concert last night listening along with about 30 other AVs to the wonder voice of Cylindrian Rutabaga, when some “highly intelligent” AV concluded what would make the concert even better would be to knock the performer and several members of the audience into another sim. It was so successfully funny the first time he did a couple of encores.

My scripting question is this, given that I was not on my land and the bombs or whatever he was using were not directed specifically at me, is there the any script functions that I could combine and employ to prevent such disruption in the future?

Abuse reports were filed, but what was needed was something more immediate.

There are position lockers that will resist Push. However this resistance is not perfect. If the sim takes too long to get to that script, (and given that it was a concert, that is very likely) the push might get in. Even in low lag areas push still has a window to operate.

nope griefer are getting new tools like
free accounts when ban, and negitive push.
but the one "bug" we had that worked
great the phantom av attachment was fixed....
so its still a griefers world, tho they
have said "tools" are comming like higher
ban heights that wont help but to make
SL harder to get around.... and still wont
stop the first attack...... for each new account
sorry if i sound negitive but ive been bounced
around a lot latley

What we really need are these options:

In the land dialog
[ ] Disable Push from outside parcel
[ ] Disable Push from inside parcel (applies only to people not on access list)

In a quick access options dialog, maybe we can call it "avatar options"
[ ] Disable all external Push
* This applies to objects not made by you, so you can still be pushed by your own objects.
* You can still be pushed by objects on land owned by the object owner (keeps elevators viable)

[ ] Enable friend push
* If the previous option is active, this option excludes people on your friends list, thus allowing them to push you.
[ ] Enable group push
* Same as above but extending permissions to your groups.

Other griefing functions can be bundled together with Push for these options.

So for Mod's concert problem, the first and second options would be sufficient. For the guests, the third option would work.

What you might want to invest in is some "concert stance" pose balls.

Since, technically, they are sitting on the poseballs to make them work, the performers cannot be shot into the next sim. In case you didn't know, if you are sitting, you cannot be pushed.

In addition, it would add a little more 'life' to the performance by letting them hold and play their instruments.

I don't have those skills, but it seems like me to be a good solution.

That would work, Androclese. They just have to live with having difficulty moving around unless the poseballs were scripted to move.

I just wish we didn't have to resort to those tactics, moreso when these performers, paid or otherwise, are giving time and effort entertaining others.

The only other thing I can think of would be to encase them in an giant box and then give it a transparent texture.

It's by no means a perfect solution, but it would keep the push guns from working.

Alternativly, you could make it look like chicken wire for a Blues Brothers look-n-feel.

chicken wire ... LOL!!

Sadly, encasing them won't work at all. If the push is powerful enough you outrun the sim's ability to detect collision with the box, so literally the push will throw them right through the box's walls.

The sitting/poseball solution is still the most effective.
