Any script out there that detects when land is abandoned by renters?

Exactly, thats what I am looking for.
For instance, there are tenants that rent and at same time disapear without notice and they abandon the land while still in rent period. I need a script that can detect the status of SIMs lands and report by email when land is being sold or abandoned. I think it's meant to look for the results of the 'Abandon Land' button in About Land. _____________________

Look here:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetLandOwnerAt llGetLandOwnerAt() will return a null key if the land has been abandoned (in the public domain), and is available for purchase. _____________________

Er.. Are you sure about that?
If the land is in public domain NULL_KEY is returned. This land can be claimed by anyone with available tier. Land on the Preview grid is divvied out this way. Land on the main grid never enters public domain and is instead auctioned off by LL. That doesn't sound like abandoned land. If you abandon land, the guv' owns it - people can't just drive up and claim it as their own.. If you're just looking for when the land changes owners, llGetLandOwnerAt is still a good choice. _____________________

The simplest way would be to keep a record of who owns what parcel and detect when that changes. What kind of land also factors in. If it's estate land, abandoning it makes it revert back to the Sim Owner, not LL. Mainland of course Reverts back to Governor Linden.
So if you see land owned by the sim owner on estate, or Governor Linden on Mainland, it's effectively abandoned. _____________________

Exactly, a tool that can detect these changes and send an email message to the estate owner would be beneficial. It saves time and alerts of any unusual ongoings on the lands rented.
Example scenario, tenant pays a month rent then after a week returns/abandons the land, but the permissions left wide open so other people arrive there leaving a mess which affects nearby residents... If you have over 50 SIMs thats troublesome trying to manage and deal with that.... The simplest way would be to keep a record of who owns what parcel and detect when that changes. If you're just looking for when the land changes owners, llGetLandOwnerAt is still a good choice. From what I gather, the OP is looking to see if a specific person abandons land, hence, if "Joe Avatar" owns a parcel, and abandons it, then lLGetLandOwnerAt() will return Joe Avatars Key, or a null key if the land is abandoned. The script can check (say once per day), and do a comparison to find if the land has been abandoned. I'm going on the assumption that the OP is looking to test to see if a specific parcel is being abandoned, not some magical script that could tell if at some point in the past that particular parcel has been abandoned. Also, if land has been abandoned, yes, you cannot just roll up and buy it, but you can contact LL and they'll sell it to you first come first serve (I believe). _____________________

What Sindy was correctly pointing out is that mainland land never returns NULL_KEY and is never not-owned. _____________________

I am still around, just no longer here. See you across the aisle. Hope LL burns in hell for archiving this forum |
