Hey there all you brilliant people! I'm trying to write a script that will make a surface slippery so I'm looking to slightly rotate an avatar upon collision. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to do it. I've tried to use llPushObject but just failed miserably (avatar always remains upright just moves in a different direction). Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Actual avatar rotation isn't possible yet with scripting... you would have to use an animation, and in the end, the avatar will wind up facing the same way. (^_^)y

You want a thinking-out-of-the box solution? How about create a transparent sculptie prim that coincides with the visible land surface. Use an animated sculptie texture to change the prim shape when a collision is detected, to a steep shape that causes the av to go into tripping mode.
OK, now the experts can tell us why this wouldn't work.... ![]() |

/me blushes at the undeserved complement.
I realized this probably won't work with sculpties, because the bounding box shape doesn't change with the sculptie texture - just the visible form. But using normal prims, if you change the size and the av is standing in the right place... You could have a whole lot of invisible domes popping up all over the place and give the av a real case of St Vitus Dance. |
