I am building a planetarium in SL, and have finally rezzed the first star dome on my computer. I tried to upload the QTVR file (a .mov) to texture a phantom sphere with, only to disccover that .mov is not in the SL viewer's upload extension list. How can I upload this file and texture the sphere with the file's mutliple textures?
Thanks, -Jackson.

I'm pretty sure that you cannot use the QTVR format within SL. You can play just about any Quicktime compatible file in SL, but I doubt that includes QTVR. Mostly because of the interactivity and extra processing that this format requires. I think you'd be better off generating a panoramic image from the same source files. Then you could upload this image and use it to texture your planetarium. By the way, Video does not work in the same way as Textures or Sounds in SL. You don't upload a video to the LL servers for use, you reference it from another web server. Here's a video I made a few weeks ago that explains the process. http://www.shiny-life.com/2007/12/31/how-to-use-video-in-second-life/

Hello, Jackson. You will need to decompose your qtvr into a spherical panorama. There are a few windows tools out there to do so, but they are somewhat sparse. However, if you are working on a mac I believe apple provides a free tool to decompose and compose qtvrs to and from various panoramic projections.

I am running a mac, and have found a stash of vintage QT software on apple's web site. I'll look and see how to make a spherical panorama, and also Thanks for the video info, my planetarium will need that as well. All the best --Jackson.
