E-mail, Database,Xml-RPC or mail, data return to SL

Hi, im new in Sl, and im trying to work with e-mail and database... Please if you can help-me.
1- I know how to send e-mail from Sl to my email account(yahoo/hotmail), and, i want to know, what data i put in filter(how to configure) options to call(send data) my php script in www.mydomain.com/receive.php.

2- In this script receive.php, how is a structure(if possible source code) to separate data and put into mysql(insert into...).

3- After this, how is the best manner to send data to Sl world ?. XML-RPC or email ???

1) It's not easy to answer directly, but this link this link sure helped me a lot, it talks you through most of the steps for most of the systems out there.

2) Yes, and the script in there will split it up for you. After that it's just php variables to play with as you will.

3) Another 'it all depends' type answer. xml-rpc is limited (size of data, etc) but fast and doesn't require timers. Email gives you more data per transaction, but is time limited you have to ask to check for new emails via a timer.

theres a cupple of php scripts on hotscripts.com that will take messages off of a simple mail server and insert it into a my-sql (or others) database

might be ezer than rpc i dunno
