anims as prim properties - how robust?

Can a texture animation script be deleted once the anim is running? Of course it can, but just how persistent is the prim property for anims? I've tested and it survives ownership changes, rez/de-rez, etc, but will it survive long-term? Sim restarts? Inventory glitches and returns via lost&found?

Actually, texture animations are THE most robust prim property (aside from the physical ones of size, path cut, hollow, etc) that there is. You not only can delete the script after the animation is started, you can take the item into your inventory, re-rez it, drop it into a box and sell it, etc. and the animation persists (forever until you stop it). Other properties, such as hovertext are lost when taken into inventory and re-rezzed.

Eh? Hover text isn't lost. I've had a couple embarrassing incidents with title attachments being reattached, before having a moment to command them to change titles. Unless things have changed recently, that is.

Maybe u had a running script in it that dispayed hover text as it was saven. I didnt acctualy tried this one so i cant say but it migh be possible since all the freebies and other stuff that were boxed and had hover text on them also had script like "delete this" :) If it would also remain while rezzed from inventory than that is good cuz i could delete the scripts for hover text. Ill try :)

The script that was in the attachment set the title only when commanded to do so. I wrote it myself. Several times. Heh.

Note that there WAS some kind of incident recently (past couple weeks) in which a bunch of float text apparently got messed up or something (newlines removed?). Maybe this has something to do with what you are thinking? Could they have changed the behavior? Hmm. Might be worth testing.

Prim properties are usually only lost when copied in world. rezzing won't lose any of them, even if the rezzed item is a copy.
