Expert help needed for HUD and script problem

I could really use some help! I bought a Huddles EZ Animator Deluxe and stupidly tried to load some HUDs and and wearable objects on it (instructions, who needs them!)

Unfortunately it seems that it by doing so, I messed up my whole account and my av's ability to copy files into inventory. Whenever I try to open a box, I keep getting the message - “You have selected ‘no copy’ inventory items. These items will be moved to your inventory, not copied. Because this object is scripted, moving these items to your inventory may cause the script to malfunction.” Before I made this mistake, all my HUDs and scripts worked fine and I could copy items into my inventory without encountering this message.

I've been "working" with LL for two days on this but it seems they only get around to me once a day for 2 minutes. First they told me it was a lag problem which isn't the case. They've had me empty out caches both in sl and on my computer and reinstall sl which I've done multiple times. I decided to delete all the HUDs and scripts I had from my inventory so it's clean. Then LL ran an inventory repair because some of the files were corrupted.

So then I got a completely new HUD from slexchange and tried to install it. After opening the box I got the same 'no copy' message above. I checked the file permissions on the items in the box before I opened it, after I moved the items to my inventory and then when I rezed the items and looked at them under the edit tab. The permissions were the same everywhere.

Another interesting thing that keeps happening is that if I wear the item, the whispered text that would normally tell you the menu commands for the item don't appear when the item is put on but only appear when the item is being taken off.

When worn, the items do not work.

So please - anyone got an idea of what to do about this? Without all the fancy stuff, sl is no fun for me. I might just have to create an alt account but can you move inventory between accounts?

Are you saying this is a problem with ANY box that you try to open, or just when you try to open a HUD? You wouldn't perhaps be trying to do this in a no script area?

Thanks for responding Monica! So I went and got two new copies of boxed items off slexchange - one a clothing item and the other a HUD.

I rezed the clothing item and got a different copy message but it loaded into inventory. Then I tried opening the same box again and voila, no message! Step 2 - I tried opening the boxed HUD. Yeah - finally! No copy message!

However, when wearing the HUD, nothing works. In fact, pressing a button just made my av go walking on autopilot. Now it's not doing the autopilot thing but just plain old doing nothing.

Again, the only whispers about menu commands that should come on when I wear the HUD come up only when I take it off.

I'm in an area that allows scripting. All my HUDs and scripts were working properly before I made my stupid mistake.

A HUD is really just trying to execute a script. Have you tried executing a script that is not in a HUD, like just in an object on the ground. Have you tried executing a script in another type of object like an attachment. A simple experiment: create a new cube; edit it and open the content tab; press the "Create new script" button; Close the edit window. Now touch the object. Does it Say "Touched" in chat? Now take it to your inventory. Finally wear it anywhere on your body. Once worn, touch it again. Does it say "Touched" in chat.

If both of those situations work, we've narrowed down the scope of the problem,

Hi Monica, thanks for getting back to me so fast. I wanted to let you know I will try this later tonight - I have to be out of the house for a while. Thanks for the suggestion. More than I got from LL today.

So I created the cube with the script. It doesn't say touched in chat but when I click it, it does say Touch on the pie menu so that's good.

When I wear it, it doesn't say touched in char nor does Touch on the pie menu come up. So have we narrowed to an av problem?

Turns out that she was rezzing or wearing these objects in a no script area which, as we know, won't work. We moved to a script allowed area and the problem was solved.
