Hi all...

Sory to rant... but here goes.

THE SL FORUM SOFTWARE IS NOT WORTH A LINDEN DOLLAR.

How in the h*ll can you otherwise explain a search of all forums for the word "car" and have zero results?

Am I to believe that I am the first person ever to try to script a car? (Linden... fix your crap!)

[rant mode OFF]

OK kind and fellow victims of Linden Labs failure to document a damned thing...

Might anyone have, or can direct me to a working car script example?

If it were not for the community... Linden would have *squat*.

Thx... Ryder

if u read the message, it says cant be found or words might be to common. CAR is extremely common and in millions of threads im sure

i searched "vehicle scripts" and pulled up tons of stuff

simply try a more detailed search of less common words

Thanks for the reasoned advice...

which I took.

I got only eight hits from the script library.. NONE of them included a script for a car.

My complaint stands. searching the vehicle library section TITLES for the word CAR would not yield many hits... so there is no excuse to exclude the word car.

So... here we are... with a serchable forum... still unable to locate a car script... or any discussion on same.

Useless forum software... useless. I have eaten up two hours now searching for a car script... this is nonsense.

But thank you for trying to help out... all the best to you...

Spectacular update!

Searching for the term "buggy" (because "car" is apparently too stupid to allow) yielded TWO search results!

Yea!

Too bad both related to "buggy" software... and not cars...

back to (not) finding car scripts...

(thanks Linden...)

okay, car scripts does work, if u limit ur scope

you want scripts, so on search button do advanced seacrh, then look for "car scripts" i found some threads with links to wiki, some with cheap or free mod scripts etc

look only in sctipr library and script tips forumns

jsut when u look in every foumn car becomes to many ersults

Hi Daniel, thanks...

What you actually searched for... if I understand the tool... was simply "scripts" not "car scripts" because the search engine strips off "car".

I imagine you got lots and lots of hits... most having nothing to do with cars... or vehicles for that matter.

I had better luck with "vehicle example"... lots of garbage to wade through... but finally "Aaron's Starter Car" was mentioned... which worked.

Usable scripts...

Point is... *way* too hard. "car scripts" should have worked fine... and is a powerful concept. The search engine *sucks*.

I appreciate your efforts to tame it though... I truly do.

I can fin'd J-Lo's shoe size using google faster... :-)

Actually vBulletin has issues searching for words less than 4 letters in length, I've seen it a million times. I think it's some kind of minimum they built in, not sure why though.

Full text searches on many engines have a cut off. It's usually 3 letter words, in combination with very common words of any length (Google will exclude of, the, a, an etc. if not in quotes for example). If you own the full database you can (and SL do) tweak the allowed word list (so lsl and mac are both permissible search terms now).

Do you need a car script, or you are trying to figure out what it all means?

Look under http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=HomePage for script information. I would search the forum for a script tips, etc, but I if anything to do with script I would look at the scripting website first before forums.

And the first car script may have been written by a linden, but could of been modded since then by anyone, not there job to document it. Is your job to look at the script information site, and learn what is all means. Can't blame LL for not documenting a script.
