Quad AO

I purchased a very cute and well-made chibifox from Whinge, which comes with its own AO.

My problem is that I want to try to get the quad animations on it without holding down any keys (and perhaps turn them on and off, but I can do that simply by setting states, if I have the mod script)

I have tried using ZHAO, and it will override the normal anims with the quad ones, but only for a moment.

Is the tail with the AO possibly interfering with what I want to do?

I simply want to be able to switch between bipedal mode (default anims) and quad mode with as little encumberance as possible.

(will test this point later. If the tail's AO is somehow resetting the avatar to the default, I might need to simply try to remake or obtain a tail that doesn't have the script.)

Here's a guess. One of the pieces in the av probably has a built-in AO. Maybe it's the tail, like you said. So as long as you're wearing that, it's trying to control your animations. If you wear another AO at the same time, you now have two AOs competing to control your animations. What will happen is unpredictable, and will probably depend mostly on the animation priorities. If you see the ZHAO anim kick in for a second and then go back to the tail's anim, then the animations in the tail are probably at a higher priority than the ones in the ZHAO.

My recommendation would be to take all the animations and notecards and put them in one AO. Since I created the ZHAO, I would say, put them in the ZHAO :) So remove the AO script from the tail (or whatever piece is controlling the av), and take all the animations and notecards from it and put them in the ZHAO. Then you can have two notecards for the two animation sets, and switch between them by selecting the appropriate notecard. This way, you have access to all the animations, but there's only one AO script trying to control your av at any time, and so there shouldn't be any clashes.

The chibi maker sells a "Feral Mode" package on SL Exchange for not very much tat does this, I believe. I bought it, but have not tried it yet... Search on www.slexchange.com for "Feral Mode"

Hope this works!

The tail is no-mod. I may ask if I can purchase a tail with either no AO, or with an AO which is set-up to run like ZHAO, with an AO on/off option.

And yes, it is duelling AOs causing it.

So clearly I will need a new tail.

Hmmmm. I have that chibi-fox, and the AO is in the tail. I was able to copy the ao out of that tail and put it into a completely different avatar's tail. But didn't try removing it from the original tail.

Jakkal's Werehouse has a line of feral avatars that come with a very good AO HUD for a wide range of quad movement. I own Jakkal's black wolf quad, and I love it! You might want to contact Jakkal in-world, and see if she would sell you just the AO from her "critters" line.

Well, the tail AO might already have an AO off command. Have you tried typing "/ao off" or something like that just to see what happens?

Actually, I found out I was mistaken. The tail is moddable, the script and stuff in it weren't. So the problem is by and large solved (although there are some some glitches with ZHAO, they're minor and can be ignored)

So now I have a chibifox that can go feral or anthro on a whim, with no sustained keypress needed.

No. ZHAO is innocent. It is because of the quad animations themselves. They aren't created to loop.
