I am hoping someone here may be able to shed some light on this problem I have on a Parcel. Whilst scripting some prims to bahave like fish, I had accidently removed the main root prim which kept them together. And the fish prim took off.... I have searched for it high and low, without luck, the problem is I receive messages on my chat screen that it 'cannot find leader prim' and so I have been able to Mute it out for now. But I would like to know if there is a simple method to located this rogue prim either via another script or means? Thank you in advance for any assistance in catching this fish!

If they are chat messages, you could set up a little script with a listener to grab those messages. the listens will give you the UUID, and from there you can use llgetobjectdetails to find where it's hiding.
If IMs, enable IM to email and log out for a while, the position will come back in the mail. Or you might use a libsl client to see the IM locations if these things are on the move.

Also, if you know the EXACT names of the prims, you could try a sensor. Unfortunately you cannot filter a sensor by owner or partial name. My guess is unless you know that name, you won't likely find them unless there are VERY few other objects in the area, since the maximum number of detectable objects is 16. We REALLY need better sensor filters/capabilities for this very reason.

/me brushes a small blob of wasabi off the counter and denies any knowledge of where Kronos' fish might have gone.

Is there any setting to make those things less disorienting, like some kind of visual cue for the distance? With their normal appearance, there is a weird illusion that they move, even looking at where they intersect the ground. Not a scripting thing, but since it came up…

I lost some bouncing boxes, fortunately after a week not years I learned a lot from that. When testing physical prims, I always include a timer which sets them non physical and brings them home.

Thank you everyone for your great information, but alas this fish is very elusive...I know it must be near, but even with sensors and beacons active. I cannot pin-point this fish. Even leaving out some bait and fresh prawns has not helped. Well the prawns did taste nice anyway... Have employed the assistance of the local fisheries and they told me to 'Get Real' hmmm! So no I sit with baited hook and will just have to wait and see what turns up. With some luck it may wonder off and be returned by a neighbouring Sim Owner. Ahhhhh!!!! Brainstorm Idea (hits me).... what if I open up a 'Free for All' fishing spree?

Use the parcel object controls to search for the scripted object owned by you with the correct name. It should create a beacon for you if it's on your parcel

Eliminate the possibility that the little beggar might be hiding in the ground. You prolly know how to do this, but if not steps are here: http://www.primesims.com/wiki/index.php?title=Collected_Cascadia_Tips#Lost_Objects_Underground_.28from_Vol_1.2C_.232.29

The late evening sun moves closer, almost touching the horizon, and the scarlet skies glistening the waters of my home bay. Perched upon the hardwood decking as the water ebbs its way inland, my fishing line dangles like a fine thread leading into the ocean. Time has forgotten me for I have lost all track of it. The sun is all but gone from view when.......Snap! The now taut line strung from my hand and wavering among the breaking waves. Snap, again. Bringing my hand to almost touching the timber decking's post. I have it, I cried. I finally got you... a smile finds its way to my now parched lips. Reeling in the line that seems to have gone forever into the ocean. Pulling the line into my waist then quickly winding the spool of thread. Splash! It had leaped from the waters revealing its presence. Now excitement moves through my body in waves as my fingers continue reeling this line. The light is almost gone with just a small glimmer of shimmer that now reflects from the rising moon. My fingers now numbing as the taut line is pressed hard against my hand. Just keeping enough strength within me to pull once more on this line. One massive splash as it leaped from the waters and landed at my feet. Glancing closer my eyes widen and the words finding their way from my mouth.... "I finally got you!" Fish caught.
