I am trying to find out how I can bring up a link to a website when someone click onto a poster in SL (for more information on a product on sale in rl). I have seen it done where the blue dialog box comes up with offer to open web page. Is it a script? If so could there be example somewhere?
Many thanks in advance

Be careful with this as there seems to be no in-world way to block these pop-ups so check your script carefully to prevent unwanted spam. Newbies everywhere are abusing it to grief-spam the planet causing lag and client crashes on the recipients of 1000's of URL popups

Newbies everywhere are abusing it to grief-spam the planet causing lag and client crashes on the recipients of 1000's of URL popups For example, use touch_start event, not touch event. The latter would result in multiple triggers if the mouse button was held down for any length of time.

Thanks for quick replies.
I didn't know there was problem with spamming using this method. Maybe better to just give plain notecard with url which people can cut and past into browser if they like (which I now do anyway).
Thanks again.

Thanks again. Puifan, don't worry too much about the above, just give it a good testing before it's released into the wild. We were merely commenting on one of the pitfalls of that scripting function. If we all were too scared to experiment and learn the language we wouldn't have such an interesting range of scripts in SL.
