Whe you play the money goes to the owner of the slot machine and when/if(?) you can (?) win and the owner still has the money it goes back to the player.

the function used is llGiveMoney http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llGiveMoneyThe script or task must have proper permission given. It takes the money from your account. And you don't have to be online. It is up t you to have the script keep track of how much money it can take from your account. it cannot give out more than you have.

If you really want to create a ATM System, read everything in the forums and LSL wiki about in-world payment and script security. A little Mistake can ruin you or drive your Customers away. We are talking about real Money here, it's not fake Gold like in a MMORPG.

As a consumer, I'd be reluctant to store any significant sum of money in a system that was entirely in-world. SL has its own reliabilty problems, so at a minimum there needs to be some sort of redundant out-of-world system.

Even if the details of the transactions are stored out of world, the actual L$ are still subject to the same database screwups that might befall your account (as well as any screwups in the out of world system). If you don't trust the person holding the money to make good any Linden mistake or any mistake of their own with their own money, it would be unwise to put any of it into a "bank". Personally, I think anyone who would promise to pay out for a Linden mistake is a fool, and shouldn't be trusted.
Leaving aside the trust issues though, what is the point of a bank in SL? If it's used just for storing money, you might as well keep it in your SL account. It's not like you can be mugged walking down a virtual street. AFAIK, nobody does mortgages in SL.
Any bank would have to be paying some significant interest and make the promise above to even have a purpose.

The real question is why would you need to have some one else look after your money?
