hi, can you make a script to make a prim go transparent on a timed event? I have 5 prims -5 peices to make a pipe and i want it to gradually dissapear.. each prim at a time ...so i timed the peices to die but when you link it it all dissapears and wont work individually..

-- i was doing it like deleting each prim one at a time.. it works if its all unlinked of course but i want to be able to attach this pipe to an avie.. and it wont allow unlinked objects to attach
-
- what you wanna do is this?
- setup a listen
-each prim has a script
- that communicated with the main
-on rez sends a message to each tuber
-each tube has a timer 1 being 5
- second being 10
- 3rd being 15
- and setprimparms
- to alpha
- 100
- in timer make it set 10 opacity
-120
- 30
- 40
- 50
-: and so on
- in 5 secons
-the 2nd will fade in 10
- so it will give a fading effect smoothly

It would help if you posted the script that you need debugging. If you are asking someone to make a script from scratch to meet your requirements then try posting in the Products Wanted. BUT since you already have something scripted then post it and let us all help get it working like you want.

Not real sure I understand.

If you want to keep them linked and then gradually fade out, one by one, I'd do it this way:

A single script in the overall object, and none in the rest, with a single timer.

A list of linknumbers.

Timer set for 5 seconds.

timer takes current linknum and loops from 10 to 100, calling llSetLinkAlpha for the current tube and current alpha level.

When the last timer call is complete, llDie().

Note: llDie() refuses to work on attachments as far as I know.
Might want to just detach the object.

instead of dealing with it killing and having to reattach pieces, if you want it to do like you said with alphas...

simply have the main prim send out a message link on a timer, each time increasing the number it sends out as a variable

then on each prim you want to alpha, have each one turn alpha as its number is linked
