It's impossible to censure what others say. You could make a object that repeats everything it hears and replace certain words, but that only give you double chatlines since you can not delete the original line.

To censure yourself it's easiest and best to just make a gesture.
Use 'freck' as trigger and replace with '*****'.

This would probably be a good candidate for a custom viewer modification rather than a script.

I think you meant "censor", not "censure". ;)

Hmmmm..... I think censuring yourself is like self-flaggellation. Might not be a bad idea for some people.

quoted for truth.

If you are going to go this route, you can do a lot more than just change your own outgoing chat. You could censor all things said by others as well.

Well, at first I wrote 'sensor'. I knew that wasn't right! :)

Though to be clear, this censorship would only happen for yourself. If you wanted to say censor all chat people hear in a club, you are out of luck.

Unless you had an LSL-based server-side security system that would be able to detect if folks (on your own land) were using the modified viewer (probably using an external database of known users of the viewer), and kick out folks who aren't.

But if you go to that much trouble, you might as well just keep your land essentially private. Or run your own OpenSim server. :-)

No, you are wrong. You can capture outgoing message and modify it before its sent to the server. Thus, other people will hear censored stuff.

I think you misunderstood.

What he meant was, a client mod can keep you from saying anything prohibited, and it can keep you from seeing anything prohibited chatted by others. But it can't keep others from seeing prohibited text from each other.
