basically if you texture your objects using a script, would this prevent the copybot from taking those textures?

I don't think so. Prims simply get assigned the UUID of the texture in the first place.

Nope.
However the texture is applied to your object, it's still just a UUID pointer.... and that's what CopyBot fetches alogn with all other facets of the object for re-creation.

Can copy-bot apply those textures though if it doesn't have permissions to use it (is copy perm you need? I can't remember)?

From: Haravikk Mistral Can copy-bot apply those textures though if it doesn't have permissions to use it (is copy perm you need? I can't remember)? Textures are not secured in SL. Anyone can get a texture's UUID and apply it to thier object never having used anyting external to SL. The texture's permissions mean little. CopyBot duplicates the textures along with the prims as the textures of the prims are simply part of the prim (pointers to the texture UUIDs). About the only textures not so easily copied are the textures on an av, and then only becasue what you see on an av are baked composits (and CopyBot can "wear" that composite).
