Hello,
I don't find any information about the new Mono sim, version 1.24. It was first announced for being deployed on the main grid on July 21st-27th but there were problems with 1.23 that delayed it. But now, there are no more news of mono...
Any bit of information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Stone Juran

From: Stone Juran I don't find any information about the new Mono sim, version 1.24. It was first announced for being deployed on the main grid on July 21st-27th but there were problems with 1.23 that delayed it. But now, there are no more news of mono... I'm hoping that it's delayed a little bit further, as a performance issue with states has been found, see http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2750 for information/timings. Other than that though I'm unaware of any reason for delaying the release further, I'm hoping it'll come soon though as I have several projects which I don't want to split into multiple scripts with Mono so close, but which are delayed waiting for Mono to come out as a result.

1.24 is supposed to roll out this week, unless something else goes wrong. It was supposed to be live now, but all the false starts with 1.23 pushed it back.
This past week was referred to as the "last week" of Mono beta in JIRA (MISC-1436), and the wiki still lists the week of August 10 as the target for 1.24.
The next restart hasn't been added to the outages calendar yet, so there is still room for more delays to happen as the last minute.

The wiki was updated on August 4th by Periapse Linden to say.. From: someone Mono is scheduled for deployment to the main grid with the 1.24 server, starting 10 August. After that deployment all regions will be able to run LSL scripts compiled to Mono. The 1.21 viewer, scheduled for first release candidate on 20 August, has the user interface needed to compile scripts to Mono (any viewer will run a previously created Mono script). The following information should help developers start working with Mono during this transition period, until both server and viewer are fully deployed.

One can find the Mono page in the Second Life Wiki by using second life wiki mono as the search terms at Google.com or other search engines. That yields http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mono, where it says: From: someone Mono is slated for the Main Grid with server version 1.24, which should deploy during the week of 10th August. Prior to that you can still give Mono a spin on the preview grid (see below). This week, if that is accurate and things go as planned.

The wait for the viewer has a workaround, the 1.20.x builds for the beta grid have the Mono stuff cooked in and are happy to run on Agni.

The latest rumbling is that it has been delayed until next week.
On the good side of things, an updated Mono viewer is on the way Real Soon that should fix the preferences clobbering bug.

please keep in mind, the last time "real soon" was used was for html on a prim and it took 2 years, before that it was havoc which took almost 5
it will be out when its out, no matter what dates the lindens blarb out
your best bet is to ignore the fact that its around the corner and be surprised when its out on the main grid

it can be argued that we are STILL waiting for actual "html on a prim".. what we have now is the ability to display a periodically updated , non-interactive, quicktime snapshot of a webpage, on a parcel media stream.. which is neither "HTML", nor technically "on a prim".

I think I need the extra week anyway, busy burning the midnight oil on the beta grid and finding allsorts of issues as the last minute. On that subject, is it just me or are others finding that xytext is slower?

I hope this is not off topic but I ask, as I need it for scripting I have downloaded 1.21.0.94415 (3 downloads in 3 days so far) and it installs as Second Life Beta and only allows me into the beta grid. Someone mentioned that you could use it to enter ether grid, which is what I want to do rather than having separate clients. Can anyone point out how to do this? It is driving me crazy having all my settings wiped each time I swap clients/grids as I have been switching 4 or 5 times a day trying to get all my scripts ready for the 2.14 server release.

On the login screen, press ctrl-shift-G. That will cause another field to popup and let you select which grid you want to be on. Agni is the main grid and, IIRC, Aditi is the beta grid.

Assuming you're using windows, that's also a good way to do it. Don't change it back and forth - just make a copy of the shortcut then right-click on it and do Properties to change the command line arguments. That way, you just double-click on the icon for whichever grid you want to go to.

Thanks Sindy, you are a Star, works perfectly.
I was trying the windows short cut method but obviusly getting it wrong, this is a far better method.
