ive been thing about this for a few days, im trying to keep prims low. im building a tow truck and only thing im basicly missing from the basics of it is a lightbar. i was thinking of having particles bounce on the z axis of a prim and shoot out to the sides and hopefully it would give it that flashing effect with low prims but im having no idea how to go around it any more anyone have any ideas on it?

feel free to im me in game to help out ill be working on it most of the day.

I've seen similar stuff. Generally it's a particle using the default texture, emitted with no force and an extremely short life. If you wanted to get fancy, you could throw in a custom texture so you could have horizontally reflected light (glare).

Can be done in carious ways.

A particle fountain may be a bad choice.
May likely look better if you use one particle for the whole beam, give it a very short live span, make its top-orientation along movement direction and make it move outwards just a little, to get the orientation right.
