Is there a way to preload graphics? If so what is it?

The usual way is to load them onto a hidden face of a hidden prim.

hmmm - that is a nuisance - I'm trying to do it in 1 prim - all sides are visible, however it is very thin so I could hollow it and have it of the inside face ---- thanks - gives me something to work with.

Can you use the face number for the hollowed sides without actually hollowing? Or is the viewer smart enough to realise it doesn't need to load the texture?

No. You can't use face numbers for faces that don't exist. :)

There's a lovely, simple script in the Scripting Library that does exactly what you are looking for. It colors all faces of a cube prim black except for face 2, then loads a texture from inventory on each one, cycling a texture onto face 2 only after it has been on a black face for long enough to rez completely. The script is at

Thanks Rolig - it is an interesting script - but not quite what I'm looking for - however stuck it in my script inventory it has given me an idea for something else.

However, I tried a 0.1 hollow and you have to get very very close before you can see it - even then it just looks like a nano fly poo on the screen. :)

It would be handy if there was a way of knowing (script wise) when a graphic is fully loaded
