Hi,
i have a script that compares a string from a list to some other string
first: String1 we call it "String A"
second: String2 we call it "String A" and is in a list
when i do
if (String1==llList2String(list, i)) {} i get false how come? the strings are clearly the same
can someone help? this is killing me!!!

Make sure they're the same. Have the script tell you the values before the conditional: llOwnerSay("String1 = \"" + String1 + "\"");
llOwnerSay("llList2String(list, i) = \"" + + "\"");
if (String1==llList2String(list, i)) {} The escaped quotes are great for detecting accidental whitespace. |

Hi, thanks
but let's say the string in the list is of a name say "Mobius Hashimoto" and a string with "Mobius Hashimoto" for some reason i'm still getting not equal -_-"
and i did do llownersay to check the string in the list

oh crap...there was an extra white space in front of the string in the list , i substringed it too early.

heehee Yep white space caught me the other night. Wasted about 30 minutes debuggin before I found it.
