Scripting an animating a pilotable giant robot?

this is somewhat for the animation forum, but since the main problem with all this is the scripting, i'm coming here first.

basically, i want to make a robot that you climb into and drive like a vehicle. Except, instead of wheels, you have legs. IT would be awesome if something like this is already built into the game, so that the legs act as physical objects impacting the terrain.

i'm trying to avoid having to put invisible wheels on the mech so that it slides across the ground while LOOKING like it is walking.

I seem to recall seeing Giant Robot avs in SL... but those are "worn," not "climbed into."

that's another thing i'm trying to avoid, mech AVS are...well....meh

Have you looked at the MultiMove scripts? They allow the (non-physical) movement of multiple objects to move together, so you can get a very large "thing" moving. The separate object movement can have some synchronize issues due to lag. But I think these may be adaptable to do what you want.
