Okay... I got a Franimation animation overrider. I was thinking I was set here, and that I could try to work with it and fix some things. Immediately, jumping stopped working 85% of the time. I can't even begin to fathom this. I just start playing what should be a jumping animation, and never leave the ground. This causes me to loop the jumping animation until I start flying. Given that what I was working on was a solution to the landing problem, this basically put a huge wrench in my plans.
Does anyone know what could cause this?

well, you're gonna have to tell/show us what you did to it.
and what animations are you using with it? did you somehow put your pre-jump animation in the jump slot on the *Default notecard? did you create this animation? what are the loop percent values? (a pre-jump or jump should loop 100-100% so only the last frame plays at the end -- unless you made several 'end' frames that repeat.)
did you lower the value of the variable that controls how long before killing a manual-kill animation? i dont think jumping is one of those, but soft landing is. you might be killing the soft landing too soon and the jumping animation shows through? that doesnt sound right, though. just thinking what could possibly go wrong ;)
