I have a lottery-type thing that basically collects money and then pays it out to a winner. It also has special functionality when the owner touches it.
I've gotten some questions about deeding this object to a group.
Can someone please tell me how that works? From what I understand from the wiki, this doesn't really sound like it's possible.
Thanks for any pointers you can provide...

the prob with deeding objects to the group is that any money taken in by it is distributed to the entire group... not to one person and it's possible the item will only take the money from one person so it's a bit of an inballance if it will pay out correctly anyways.
I would say with your object it probably wouldn't work well if it's deeded to a group

First, deeding an object to a group is no different than giving the object to another avatar. Really, it's like transferring the item to your alt account. All the "Next Owner May:" permissions are applied. To get it back, the group would have to sell the item back to your avatar. However, if one of the permissions was left as 'no-transfer,' then the group will not be able to transfer it back to your avatar. So, triple-check the permissions first, before deeding (or retain a copy for yourself, while deeding a copy to the group.)
Second, any group officer will become co-owner of your object. They will be able to do what they want with it, within the permissions settings.
Third, you can have a group-deeded object pay your av, instead of the group. That is generally not a problem. Most items payout to their owner using a llGetOwner() function within the 'pay' method. If you want a deeded object to pay your avatar, instead of the group, then you'll need the script changed to pay to your avatar's UUID, versus the object owner's UUID (replace llGetOwner() with your UUID.)

Thanks DoteDote... but I think I wasn't clear...
I've sold a "no transfer" lotto ball to a third party. That person wants to deed it to the group. First off, if it's no transfer, can they even do that?
It doesn't sound like it's going to work out well anyways...
