I just finished a vehicle that uses llSetPrimitiveParams to open a door on the side. Now I discover that whenever I use llSetPrimitiveParams, all avatars on the vehicle are unseated.
Is this a bug or the way it's supposed to work? I can't imagine why it would be designed this way.
Does anyone know?

Yes/no.
As it is now, its an imposed limitation. When it was first introduced this was not the case, then the next patch had the message "LLSetPrimativeParams is now disabled for objects an avatar is sitting on" or something to that effect, because it was (for some reason) causing sim crashes.

My conversations have made me come to suspect that the issue's with llSetPrimitiveParams are so deeply burried in the interface between SL & Havok they dare not fix them.
But in defense i should say that you can no longer create bad prims via linked prim attribute corruption. But i'm not sure if thats a client hack or a sim fix.
