A good friend made me this nice necklace - but it blings. It doesn't respond to a bling off/on command. I won't wear something that blings - I am not a bling kind of guy. The necklace is modify and I found the bling script and deleted it. It still blings. I checked every single prim in this thing several times - there are no other bling scripts and it still blings.
I contacted my friend and she made me a full perms copy with the bling script removed. That one blings too. She couldn't make it stop short of making a new one from scratch.
I have spent an hour or more tearing the thing into the component pieces and I can't stop the bling. I have it torn down to the one prim jewel centre piece sitting in front of me, with no bling script, blinging away like mad.
I just don't understand and it is driving me nuts ... could anyone please help?

Once a prim "blings" it's gonna "bling" till somebody turns off particles. So you need The World's Silliest Script:

default { state_entry() { llParticleSystem([]); } }

which must go in whichever prim is a-bling'n.

Absolutely not the worlds silliest script. I make jewelry for friends and more than one have thanked me for this script (set to not run in contents) for bling-stick (best way I can describe it).

Let me echo that - OMG Thank you. :)

I had recently made a purchase, not knowing it had bling and was so disappointed.
