Is it possible to get the key (ID) of an avatar, just knowing their name?
I would like to send a notecard to all the avatars on my stored visitor list.
Thanks.

Nope. And spamming like that will get you an abuse report.

There are ways to get them, but they're all currently methods devised by internal players, and not all of them really want to share that info. There's no built-in LL command.
There's also been quite a bit of debate of auto-IM'ing/auto-anything to a list of players in the system. You may want to do a search on the word 'spam' in these forums and bring yourself up to speed before embarking on such a controversial course.

Is sending an invite to a person on my friends' list also considered spamming?

From: Tyg Jarrico Is sending an invite to a person on my friends' list also considered spamming? If you send it to one person, no. If you send it to all of them, yes. If you want to collect keys instead of names, you could do that easily, and you wouldn't need to convert names. You can't convert your existing list of names directly, though. If you do decide to do this, be aware that this marketing technique may backfire badly, and you may get people mad at you. Personally, I'd make sure that every message sent had the option to opt out, and that it was an opt-in list to begin with.
