Barrier to Flying Avatars

Hiyas Everyone,

I have a landing point that I would like everyone to either "walk" away from in one direction or take a diff route if they are flying. My idea is to set an object (door) in a portal to phantom if people are walking and to toggle phantom off if people are flying. I have absolutely no idea where to begin on this one (collisions?)... lol. Any help on where to get started will be greatly appreciated. :-)

Use a sensor to detect the avatar, then use llGetAgentInfo to see if it's flying?

Hmmm... now that I think about it, there are times that there will be multiple avatars trying to go thru that same portal. So I guess maybe not some much trying to change the object but more of trying to keep the flying avatar from going in the direction of the object (door).

I haven't tried this so I don't know if it works, but could it be as simple as making the door opening so short that a walking avatar can get through it but a flying avatar bonks his or her head on the top and must either stop flying or go a different way? You needn't redo your entry if you have something you like, just add an invisible prim at the right height to barely let through a walking avatar and block fliers.

What I'm not sure is if (or how much) an avatar's bounding box varies with their height; it might be that, in order to let really really tall people walk through, you might accidentally let really really short people fly through. Might be worth experimenting though.

Make a short tunnel, or it could be some wood lattice or something, for the people to walk through, then you can have llVolumeDetect prim half way down to 'scan' them and an invisible prim at the end that allows non flying avatars through. That way a flying avatar will only get through if they are acompanied by a walking one.

I don't think you can have a 100% guarinteed way of stopping flying avatars going down the walking route if they are really determined.

Edit - Hmm, what about making them sit on something to get through the 'door'?
