Objects w/touch events showing red in edit mode?

I don't know if it's something I have done or a new bug-feature, but since the Voice update, when I edit objects that have scripts with touch events in them, they are highlighted red. The only way to unhighlight them seems to be clicking the mouse.

Actually when I go into edit mode, ALL items with touch events in them become highlighted by default...and they lose the highlight when clicking mouse.

I'm hoping I toggled something that I can easily toggle back off...any suggestions?

Sara, what's an RA thread? I can live with the red and just ignore it, but am curious about it, too.

Shouldn't be only ones with touch events, but any script at all.

It's a setting in your graphics preferences I do believe...for scripted items to be highlighted.

Is there a way to not make the prim 'red' when you attach a script to it? It messes up the texture color and quality!

Chaz, an "RA thread" is a discussion thread in the Resident Answers forum.

Tiarnalalon got it right: the highlights can be turned off, per Torley in :

OK! There's some context behind this: previously, some Residents didn't like how certain scripted objects (with touch events) were highlighted in red when you held down Alt while editing, but others found it handy to tell what they could click to interact with.

There were a number of other related loose ends to this, so Jake Linden dug into it and checked with our Resident Experience Team too, so that the red glows + beacons would be better unified, yet provide choices depending on individual needs.

Long story short, if you want to TURN OFF "objects glowing in red in edit mode", disable:

View menu > Beacons > Scripted Objects with Touch Only

and any others as desired. Hope this helps. :)

See related issues for more background on why this was done.

That's just broken.

This new scheme means that if you want to see touchable objects in normal mode, but you need to edit anything textured, you have to change your beacon options EVERY TIME you go into edit mode. *and* you have to hit "^N^N" to check on scripted objects... and ^N has *no effect* in edit mode.

This is worse than the way "Edit Land" turned on showing property owners every time you entered it.

At the very least ^N needs to be made an independent toggle.

I've reopened the bug in Jira.
