Special characters in strings in scripts

It used to be that this in a script would cause the script not to compile:

string hello = "Avatar écoutez";

This was true at least as of end of January 2008.

I just noticed today that the compiler now accepts the French accent.

Was just wondering if anyone noticed when this fix was done?
