Advanced... Character... Character Tests... Allow Select Avatar Has anyone played with this yet? It's pretty cool, you can select your avatar and translate (but not rotate) it. The name and description fields are empty, and you can type in them, but it does not persists. Only the general and object tabs are available, and you show up as 1 prim, but most things in those tabs don't really do anything. An attempt at a drag copy results in an info dialog that says 'duplicate with no root selected. You have to already be in edit mode to select your avatar as right clicking your avatar yields a different pie menu without the edit choice. Don't really see much use for it, but it's pretty neat that you can now select your avatar as an object http://www.secondscripter.com

I played with it a year or so ago. As you say, there probably isn't much use for it. I wonder if selecting yourself might keep you from moving physically, like selecting a physical object does. Maybe it could serve as a form of emergency movelock when there's no non-physical object immediately handy to sit on. I haven't really tried it out.

Doing it stops me from falling out of midair, so I assume it'd work fine for that as well. Nice thought ^-^

For the past couple days I've been helping someone with a machinima by making an slproxy plugin that replaces certain prims with avatars. The 'Allow Select Avatar' thing comes in handy for our strange application, allowing him to move the avatars around, rotate them, and delete them ^^

I played with this just a bit. It's really odd. If ya select yourself you can drag your AV all around but, soon as ya try to move you snap back to where you were. Same for other peoples AVs. You can select and they move on your viewer but not on theirs again soon as they try to move they snap back. Also when in the moved location it's like they're phantom. You can walk right through them.. You can also change the #'s in the size field but, I didn't see any effect on the AV didn't get the delete option Day Oh was talking about either.

Interesting topic, but it seems like it's in the wrong forum.
