So I'm seeing the scripters are in a somber mood because all the old scripty posts got baleted.
So, it got me thinking, what *were* the important threads. Reminisce with me, what were the most helpful/important threads that you'd resurect if you could?
On the top of my list is:
- That post (I forget by who) that explained how to invert a rotation, and rotate a child object. (Although, it's now in the script library isn't it?) - I started a thread the other day asking people to add their names if they were willing to help out newbie scripters/do contract jobs. That was starting to turn into a valuable list I think. - There was a thread explaining how floating point numbers are represented. I found that helpful to point to, because it's an issue that comes up a lot and so I wouldn't have to re-explain it.

Az's "interim script library" that was created because it takes so freaking long for posts to show up in the library.
Az had about 15 intermediate to advanced scripts in that post, not to mention a few added on by other people.
- The XML-RPC implementation thread with source code in LSL, java, C#, Python, PHP, and probably a couple other languages I didn't pay attention to. - Francis' encrypted e-mail code - (I'll think of more later)
*Edit: Added the list

I tried to add those scripts to the University of Second Life in-world script library, but was told to remove them as people prefer to copy paste them from the forums and they don't want them in the free library. Now that the forums are gone, oh well.

Well, I've got all the scripts in my inventory, but OTOH Jarod Godel's post got me thinking:
"The technology to duplicate what SL does is becoming more prolific and easier every day. Seriously, you can get everything you'd need to build SL free from Microsoft: .Net SDK, DirectX 9.0, and the DirextX SDK would be all you needed; and this ignores the equally free tools you can pick up from Internet to suppliment those and make it even easier.
"I like SL as a technology, but I'm not married to it, and I doubt many people here (especially the newbies, the game developers, and the club owners) are either. I like and use SL as a tehnology right now because it keeps me from having to write my own world with a game engine. However, someday either I'll get so pissed off that I'll heed my own advice and buld my own world, or someone (There or Microsoft, most likely) will offer me the software to host my own."
Give me 5-9 days and I'll come up with something more concrete.
In the meantime, if you know what I mean and you're interested you can email me at: hughperkins@yahoo.com If you're not sure what I mean and want to know, feel free to also email me.

Andrew's post, "All about Joints" was very informative. I saved a copy of it into a notecard, and I saved a few articles about child rots into another notecard.
