As the title to this message says, I'm looking for anyone who can give a new scripter the secret of making a prim give someone an object and wear it or use that item as soon as they receive it. I understand it will most likely be accompanied by the usual blue pop up text asking if they want to wear it, but I still would like to know.
I've seen vendors out there that you buy clothing from that asks if you want to wear it right away. So I know it can be done.
I am planning on a dining hall at my castle with plates of food on tables, and chopsticks available in cups at the entrance. Then when you take them and sit down you would appear to be eating with them. I was hoping people could just click on the cups and the chopsticks would be placed directly into thier hands so they could go sit down and eat with them. Without the step of going to look in thier inventory to find and wear them.
Is this possible?? Please any help would be appreciated.

For clothes, when you buy an object from a box (selling a copy of the contents) you get the option of wearing clothes. That doesn't work for attachments, though.

So then is there no way to script an object, that on rez or once you wear it can't be scripted to pull up something else. Example. if you have one drum stick, it automatically will grab the drum stick for the other hand, or in another case I wouls love to get working. I have three objects. I have a sword in a sheath, one empty sheath, and a sword. I would like to make it so that if you hold the sword, then you will wear the empty sheath. And if you wear the sheath with the sword in it, then the sword will disappear from your hand and return to inventory. Would that be posible? Becuase trying to switch in a hurry, I almost deleted my sword several times. I know, I know, easy to undelete. I just don't like it. -InuYasha

-InuYasha The way people typically do this is by putting scripts in the sword attached to the hand, and scripts in the sword pieces inside the sheath, and constantly wearing both attachments - these scripts set the pieces invisible so that either sword is not showing. As you trigger your sheath/unsheath animation it just toggles the sword in the sheath to invisible and the one in your hand to visible, or visa-versa.

Thanks for the quick answer, but damn my sword has many prims, and it still don't help me with my chopsticks. Darn. SL needs more flexable wear routines. -Inu

Trick Sword Sheath.

I made mine work with one extra object. I used a gold ring to remove my sword from my hand, By replacing my sword with a ring, that on rez send a command to the sword handle in the sheath to become visible again. Then wearing the sword on my hand on rez will send a command to only make the handle invisible.
that seems to work for me.
If you want to run an animation to grab your sword from your sheath you might need another possibly a silver ring to play the animation to get your sword. Because putting it in the sword the sword would rez before your character actually reaches for the sword.
I wish you well, InuYasha Meiji.
