It can sometimes take days to get a complex script (group) working exactly how you want it, yet scripts in themselves have little market value. However, the fact that people want them, often really badly, shows that while they have $0 value as a sale item, they do have high inherent value from the time invested, especially in the debug process!, and the expertise required. That said, here is my question...

If a script is marked "no modify" is there any known way to view the script contents?

I have no wish or interest in knowing how this may done, if it is known to be possible, but a reliable yes/no answer to the question would help enormously.

BTW, reverse engineering from copying the public functionality is something I really don't care about. Since if you can do it, you probably have to put in the same amount of sweat and I am reasonably confident of my own creativity to stay ahead of that particular game...

Unless things have changed, scripts marked "No Modify" will pop up an error telling users they cannot view or modify the script when opened.

Thanks, Jeffrey.

You hear all kinds of wild adolescent claims in SL about "secret this" and "secret that". One of which I heard was that you could "crack" a script. Hence the question to a reliable forum.

The closest I'm aware of is good old reverse-engineering, and that's entirely legal and ethical most places.
