Hi All.

I just wanted to share my amazement over the physics engine in SL:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob9SRJ0wdds

Only script involved is a llTargetOmega on the physical wheel in the upper right. Rest is computed by SL by computing the forces the wheel apply to the chain. The chain actually drives the lower wheel.

The number of computations necessary for this thing to work and not break - pretty good job.

Each element in the chain is done by two spheres linked together - a bigger hollow one, and a smaller one that rest in the hollow off the next big one.

Same principle (small sphere in hollow of bigger sphere) is used in all bearings.

/me wonders if this is building or scripting.

Cheers, Boreal

if you enjoyed that you should check out Virtual Mechanics (inworld group)... and send me a not and in a week of so when I'm back I'll send you my completely physical simple trebuchet (only scripts in it rest the arm and res a shot which you can sit on) I get a good 2-3 sim avatar toss out of it =)
