Puzzled by llOverMyLand

Can anyone help me understand this? The HippoSecure system we use on my sim -- an island, group owned -- is clearly able to determine where the parcel boundaries are. However, llOverMyLand, llGetLandOwnerAt and so on all return the one uuid -- that of the group -- for the whole of the sim.

I'm trying to figure out a way of recording visitors to particular parcels, you see, and can't for the life of me figure out how the security system manages to confine its scans to the individual parcel when all the parcels on the sim are owned by the same group.

Is it using llGetParcelFlags, I wonder? I must say it seems odd that a scripted object can tell when an avi has entered a particular parcel, check whether he's on a ban list or an access list and tp him home if necessary but can't simply record the fact he's been there.

I'm not familiar with the security system you're speaking of, but you probably want to be looking at llGetParcelDetails() rather than the functions you mention.

Yep, as long as each parcel has a unique name, I think "llGetParcelDetails (avatarPosition, [PARCEL_DETAILS_NAME])" is what you're looking for..

Thank you so much. I've yet properly to test it, but it certainly looks as if it's the solution that's eluded me for ages. What a clever way to do it!

In the meantime checking against the parcel name as Sindy says is one way but it would be more robust to check against the parcel's uuid. You can vote for the feature here:
