Can I do this?

I'd like to be able to create a "dummy" to practice casting spells on. The spell system I'm using requires a target, but it doesn't seem to work on objects, only avies. Any ideas other than using an alt? Using an alt slows my SL down and makes it hard to test.

If the scripting checks for an avatar, you'll have to use the real thing. There are some minimal clients - look for libsecondlife, a command line client called SLeek, and the ajaxlife.net web site for a few lower-resource options. The other avatar won't be able to do very much running from one of these, but it may be enough of a presence to play with your spell things.

You could also try http://www.movablelife.net , another minimal SL client which runs in a web browser, allows chat and Friends list, among other features that don't seem to work yet. It pretty much dumbs SL down to a chat client, and the name Movable Life is a bit ironic, because it allows you to log into sl, or log in an alt, but your avi jus stands there like a zombie, and there's no way of moving it.

Anyways, one option for ya: if you're looking for a dummy, go to movablelife.net, log in your alt, and go to where your alt is, turn your alt into a toad. :)
