I thought I'd mention this because I only found out about it by chance last night!

It turns out that the new RC update of Second Life also adds a new function to LSL, llGetObjectDetails(), which allows llDetected*()-like information to be retrieved from an object without a response event provided its key is known.

The tricky bit is that it works right now on the main grid servers, but you can only actually use it if you're using the RC version of SL because only that version has the necessary symbol table entry. I think this is the first time that a function available on the main grid server has been held back from people using the official main grid client!

So. Regardless, in case you missed it on the detail page of the blog (it wasn't on the shortened entry page, which claimed that the RC contained only bug fixes!), you can use it now and it's incredibly handy so I thought I'd post an extra note here. :)

The function is listed on the LSL Wiki :-)
