You don't need a script just to play a file. Put the file on the web and make sure it plays by typing the url in a browser. Then copy the url to the Music URL in the Media tab of the land dialog. I have had MP3 URLs not work in SL even though they play in a browser - must be a format problem I suppose, but usually they play fine.
Setting the media url to an MP3 file means that whenever anyone enters the parcel, the client requests the file and starts playing it from the beginning. So walking off your land and back on restarts the song, and different avatars can be hearing the song at different places. And there's no way to know when the song has ended for any avatar. So if you want it to loop, it won't work perfectly, but you could have a script that every 9 minutes and a few seconds, calls llSetParcelMusicURL. (You might have to set it to "" then set it to the url again to force it to refresh.) If an avatar has been there for less than 9 minutes they'll hear the song restart from the beginning, but there's no way around that. If your land is group owned, llSetParcelMusicURL will not work and will not tell you why (don't you just hate that we have no error handling in LSL). You have to deed the object containing the script to the same group as the land. But save a copy because you can't get it back. Hope this helps. _____________________

hiya! drop me an IM in SL and I will send you 2 open source scripts that I use to play/loop mp3's drectly. If you have one MP3 playing you woudl need the URL of the Mp3 and the lenght. It will repeat untill you tell it to stop. The thing to keep in mind while streaming MP3's when someonecomes to your land the MP3 will start for them while yu may be half way through. If you can break up each song then when the next MP3 is loaded all listeners will be in sync...
Thanks so much sky Honey It works... but it don't loop... wish it did thatThanks again ![]() |
