Touching Linked Objects

Suppose I have two cubes. Each cube has a simple script which displays a message when touched. When I link them together, the script in root prim fires, regardless of which prim I touch. Is there a way to have each cube respond to being touched separately, or ... a way within the root prim to detect which prim was touched?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Normally, if a child prim has a script which responds to the "touch_start" event, touching this child prim only triggers the script in this child prim, and not the one in the root prim. I know this works in current SL, I'm using it in a game I made.

Is the root prim overlapping the child prim ? Or maybe you need to add the script in the child prim after linking the cubes together ?

Hmmmm. I am at work right now, so I can't do some additional testing. I appreciate the suggestions though. When I get home tonight I will experiment with this a bit more.
