I could not find what I thought an appropriate forum for this question, so I come to my favorite forum to post.. If it is inappropriate for this forum, I apologize in advance and await my punishment This deals with the over all effect of video streaming on resources. I understand that video streaming is strictly a relationship, facilitated by SL, from a streaming server, to an SL client. This says to me, that video is not a major factor of performance on the sim's cpu. Are these assumptions correct? Secondly.. Assume a parcel of group land. On the land is three TV's that display based on the media settings. Does having one TV versus three TVs have any affect on the sim cpu? (i hate the totally misconstrued word 'lag') I would imagine that having three might possibly have some effect on the streaming server connection wise, but, if I am the only person viewing three TV's, do you think it would take any more resources, from my client, from the sim cpu, from the streaming server than if I were only viewing one TV? Thanks in advance, Narcysis Frost

streaming video content is entirely client side. The sim is not affected by it at all.

all the sim has to do is pass the client the texture uuid that will be used, and the stream address, the client does all the heavy lifting, connecting directly to the stream, interpreting the view of the movie, etc.
for a comparison, the sim has to do more work to send the data for a single default plywood prim to the viewer than it does to pass the media information.
now it's possible for those clients to lag as they play that video, and it's even possible for their avs to appear to lag on the server (because their client is slow to update their position) but I'm pretty sure the sim doesn't wait on client communication, so a lagged client does not equal a lagged sim.
