Well I must confess to being relatively a noob, and i really dont know what im talking about in these matters but a while ago when i discovered lsl I cut and pasted and jiggled some code and created myself a HUD attachment scanner that gives names and distances of avatars in a 96 m range. Fairly cool i thought, would'nt it be nice if you could increase the range. Ah Wiki says max range for llSensor is 96m ok fair enough thats pretty big anyway.

ROLLOUT 1.11

Attach HUD, lo and behold now im detecting avatars over 450m away!!!

If i were a more experinced user im sure id be noticing some cons too but as far as so far goes, excellent improvement, thanks

Any thoughts appreciated, did i misread/misinterpret the Wiki, is this a bug, can i bank on it still working tommorrow?

It has been pretty stable and reliable at range over 400m for the last two days.

Can we see the script code please? I'd love to try it and see if the effect can be replicated.

Well, I had it tested by people with more know how than me.

It picked up avatars 1050m away during a little test in the sandbox. !!

Come and get em while theyre hot only, price only 200 L due to the fact that it comes with no guarantees about its effectiveness after the next 'upgrade'.

Demo available

In case you hadn't noticed this is a scripting tips forum, it's not meant for product advertising. Had you chosen to share your script with us for discussion it would have been fine to post here while still selling it in world. We're not all out to rip you off and most people would still prefer the hassle free option of buying one from you, but there's no discussion to be had here.

if i remember correctly from a similar thread, it's been like this for some time. yes, it will pick up people from further than 96m, but it's pretty much random if it works or not. all sensors can do this, just not reliably. consider 96m to be the maximum reliable range for sensor events, and anything beyond that purely random.

It's natural for a sensor to do this. My HUD av rader picks people up from like 500-2k away sometimes. Even people in other sims. Theres no trick to do this it's just a basic sensor. :/

It's a known bug

This is at least partially caused by a known bug (One of maybe 500?) that needs to be fixed but... well just hasn't.

llSensor will pick up AVs from very long distances if they are SEATED on an object within the same SIM as the sensor, it is actually very annoying in a lot of cases. :(
