there ae several prim parameters that I see can be set, but I don't see any ways to read them via script... a few that come to mind offhand are sit target, sit text(pie menu), touch text(pie menu), particle system, and hover text... are there any hacks to get at these or other settings through scripting that have a set, but no related get?

you are correct, there is no method for reading the paramaters you listed. While with in fair use to clone an object for personal use, it would be unadvisable to distribute said clone. Content Theft is not only frowned upon it is largely illegal (and against TOS).

... and not my intention at all.

you've seen/heard of the magic mirror script by Jeffery Gomez? (the rewrite, that mirrors settings, not whole objects)

I've been intrigued by it for a long time (since the original) and for experience I am doing a rewrite of it... more mirrored settings makes the idea more useful, and the practice gains a little more point than copying your abc's on a page. either way it's a learning experience. learning new things is good. making a better moustrap is a fun challenge.
