I am trying to make a prim that will display a Google calendar as its texture. I know that I can use a media texture by editing the land settings but the media texture is already in use for video feeds. Dividing the land is not an option either. My question: How can I display a webpage on a prim without using the land media settings? In the scripting guide the command "LLSetTextureURL" sounds like it should do the job but I am not able to make it work. Any help very much appreciated (even if it is just to say "sorry dear, this is impossible" .

Sorry dear, this is impossible There *is* some HTTP texture stuff coming in the future, but initially it will be restricted to the same textures we can get off the asset servers now. Arbitrary web textures are hoped for, but it's not clear if or when we will get access to use them.

"Sorry dear, this is impossible... mostly" You COULD write a libSL bot, to take a screencapture of the website, and then upload that texture regularly to SL. In fact the bot could be written in such a way that it could upload the texture as "temporary" thus incurring no upload fees. However this is probably WAAAAAAAY more work than you wanted to do, and no, I can't help you. "Sorry dear, this is impossible... for now" There is a newish project, featured in the "Snowglobe" viewer, whereby http is being used to send and receive textures in the client. Right now, this is just a "new way for images to be sent and received" between the client and the server.. but I know that I have seen some murmering about the idea that this new system will eventually result in the ability to display textures... er, "images" off the web. At that point, it's a relatively simple matter to use a php script to render whatever data you want to display, as an image. But to be fair, we're not close to "THERE" yet.

I believe you can set the media URL to the location of a (most kinds of) static image. It may not be much help though, because 1.) people have to have the media stream turned on, and 2.) it's limited by parcel ownership and one stream per parcel.

I beleive it's one stream per av on the parcel if you target it it.

Of course, if you only want to SHOW the monthly calendar, you really only have to upload one texture of that google calendar each month, so really you could upload 12 textures and rotate them based on the date.
