is it possible to build a hierarchy and move a group of objects at once ?

i want to achieve the following setup:

- root
+- platform
--- A
--- B
--- C
+- fixed object
--- D
--- E

so i need to group my objects into subgroups and move all elements of a group at once. is this possible ? or is there any workaround to move a group of objects ?

thanks in advance

Hi,

unfortunately is such a hierarchy not supported by SL. You can only have a root prim and linked childs. If you want to move multiple things at once you can either move the root prim in which case everything moves at once or - if you want finer control - you must put scripts into each and every prim.

To have them move more are less at the same time I recommend using linked messages as opposed to normal chat funtions.

If you need roation around arbitrary axes things get even more muddled because you can only rotate around the geometrical center of a prim (unless you have it cut). So to achieve the roatation around an arbitrary axis you need to change the prim's parameters and combine translation and rotation.
