Hello all,

I have been fiddling with scripts a little but not having much luck. So I was wondering if anyone had a script out there for an Avi Detector that has these specific features:

Needs to be able to turn on by touch or by command...(exp.../1 Detect on) or something to the effect.

The people detected can only be seen by the user not the whole world in chat.

I know there is the Matrix script running around and the Avi Detector Script but the Avi Detector you can turn on and off but it prints to the whole world. The Matrix script you cannot turn off without taking the object off. I was looking for something that combines the two.

I would gladly pay someone or if you know of a free script floating out there please let me know.

Thanks again,

Drezin

Drez, I am working on something like this at the moment.
What info do you want about each detected avatar?
Do you want the attachment hidden inside your body, or do you want it to have some visual aspect?

Ben I was looking at sunglasses

Hi Ben,

I wanted the script cause I am working on pair of sunglasses that I wear all the time. It would be nice to always wear the sunglasses and when you wanted to know who was around you could by turning them on. I did not want it to clutter up user chat and not let anyone know I am scanning either. I wanted them to turn off by touch or command because I did not nesciscarily want to take the enitre screen when in a club or when many many avatars are around.

Currently the only way to do this is to remove the glasses. Imagine a pair of sunglasses, a ring for men, or a set of earings for women to have this functionality. I am sure many a women would thank you when walking down those dark SL streets at night. Just another reason to wear your sunglasses at night I suppose.

I guess it would be a sort of spy sunglasses. I have the Matrix script and the Avi Detector script in a pair of mod sunglasses, but again wanted a combination of the features.

As for what information I would want? I have only seen [Avatar Name XXXmeters]. Could you get any more info? I know I would pay money for the script to put in any object or you could colaborate with a jeweler to get them installed in jewelery. The possibilites are endless I suppose.

Lastly some brainstorming ideas... Mayby you could have a ban list or like list which would send you a message specifically when certain avatart comes X distance to you. That way no one could ever sneak up on you :-). Let me know what you think.

It would be nice to have it concealed in any jewelery or attachment I guess is the main point.

The sort of information I:
already have - second life birth date/age
am working on - direction. e.g. 50m at 3 o'clock
am considering - particularly high or low ratings

It switches on and off by voice command (on a private channel) and speaks to you privately.

The ban/friend lists is a great idea. I will take a look at that.

Mine currently sits in a fancy-holographic-head-set-thingy, but it can be put into any other prim, hidden or visible.

It will take me a few days to complete (RL getting in the way of SL) - are you in any rush?

I'll keep an eye out for you in SL :)

I would also suggest may be a "ping" or quickscan feature that does a single llSensor() and grabs everything within the range at that particular point of time. That way you can have the scanner off, reducing load on the server, and then give a command like "/1 qs" or "/1 ping" and have it do the single llSensor().

Why don't you change the channel of the llListen?
