Hello,

I am looking for a extraordinary scriptwriter who wants to be innovative and work with me. I have an idea I have been looking to run with for a few years but haven't had the chance to do so. This will be a challenge i believe but we would all benefit from it and it would bring some entertainment to Second Life and make us (me and my partners who ever is willing to help) a great amount of money and there could be endless ways of doing so. I have a notecard in world of my idea and I will talk to who ever is interested.

HulkHogan Hendressen.

Thanks.

Considering how amazing the idea is, and how sure you are it'll be a huge success, how much are you willing to invest upfront?

Well if I had the funds to invest up front you think I would of paid along time ago :P... That's why it's a business opportunity!

Well, the "If I had a nickel..." saying was more in reference to "for every time I have heard 'I have this great idea! I just need someone to make it for me, and I (we) can get filthy rich!' as an opening pitch for a programming project, I could fill my olympic-swimming-pool-sized hoard with platinum." :p

Ideas are a dime a dozen. Literally. More often than not in these "plans", the people who get hired (suckered) to work their tails off making someone else's idea/dream real get offered chump change or a tiny percentage of what the "idea man" takes. In reality, it should be the other way around. Unfortunately, many people far undervalue their worth and/or are afraid to negotiate for it, taking the job and enriching someone else at the expense of themselves.

Now, I realize that the OP didn't provide enough details to know if this is such a situation, but because I have heard so many pitches like this that end up that way, my first reaction to them is thus. I wouldn't doubt that most "extraordinary scriptwriters" feel the same way.

As such, I would recommend trying a different pitch if one is really trying to attract "extraordinary" talent. Oh, and putting it in the right forum is a big plus, too. :)

I doubt it. guess it depends though... I've seen as high as 60$US/hr plus residuals, depending on code ownership, resale rights, and permissions. but I've done cuff work for tips, and received ~30$US for less than 5mins work...

(which I almost feel bad about accepting, except I treat it like a bartender problem... those that tip well generally get premium service, including making time when otherwise busy, house calls, and personal attention, and other complimentary services for free)

But Void there are people you'd give your right arm to script for because you really like them and get on really well with, its a balance right?

Besides, he highly underestimates the humility of scripters. If he asks for THE BEST, every scripter here is going to point their finger at someone else rather than accept the title himself. ;)

Well, a lot of the battle IS coming up with a unique idea that people will love..

Many of the scripters I really respect would do that, but I'm sure we've all seen many people with intermediate skills who proudly claim to be the best available.

not sure I'd go that far, but I often do one offs for close friends, some more complex than others... generally without any expectation.

I'm not sure there's anyone I am so enamored of that I'd just jump at the chance to script for them... but I might look at as a reverse bartender problem ;)

Very true

Glad you are a good sport Hulk, we are just pointing out the facts of life. The other thing to watch out for is presenting your idea that the grid has been waiting for all of these years and a scripter just taking off and doing it on their own.

Good ideas are part of the battle. A recent example would be Sion Chickens, who would have ever thought of something like that? From the reports in the forum they are even badly scripted and sim killers, but they are still very popular.

...while my sheep, which are ridable and about as smart as RL sheep (ie: not really but not bad at all for LSL) sold not-a-one.. :(

Chickens?? C'mon people!! Sheeps is where it's at!!

Add a bit more functionality to them and move them to Zindra and you might just have a hit on your hands

Warning: NSFW. Or who would have thought of this idea:

http://petsmiling.com/releaseIN.htm

The DoggyLoverDoll and it even comes with a tube of K-9 lubricant!!!!! And look at the advertising: "During the doll’s test period with a few canines, including the Maltese Flock (responsible for the idea), the pets showed a better quality of life based on less anxiety, less barking, and less territorial demarcation."

LMAO
