Hi, I'm new (only started four days ago).

I've been looking and can't find anything on this yet, would it be possible to make a script in Second Life that would display the contents of an IRC channel (E.g. so that you could have a running IRC log projected onto a wall or something in SL). I think the main question with this is whether scripts in SL can communicate with other software? Either that or you could have it display the channel log through a web-based IRC client.

Any tips, suggestions or answers I'll be really grateful for.

You will want to look at the LSL wiki about "communications" (http://www.lslwiki.com/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=communications), esp. the XML and HTML parts, I think.

Thanks for the link, I found out just now that there have been a couple of scripts made to display IRC in SL, noone seems to have any idea where to find them though. Though apparently some occasionalls on #secondlife@efnet.org have made some.

I'll make sure to look through all of the Communications wiki though, I'm really interested in doing scripting, but mainly stuff surrounding outside Internet communications being implemented in the game.

Cheers

good luck. It would definitely be a great addition to the repository.
