Some thoughts:
Ask here or in world for a teacher - especially if you're new to scripting/programming in general. The wonderful LSL Wiki especially the tutorial links. Start with a script that you can see (full perms) that you want to adapt, it's certainly how I started out, although I'm sure some of the hard core scripters just jumped right in. Ask questions here, look at the scripting library too - this shows how a number of things can be done. They're not necessarily perfect (nor all recent), but better than a poke in the eye, and they mostly work. You can see discussions of how to improve many of them in this forum too. Have an idea of what you want to script! Then try it, then ask for advice here or from the Scripting Mentors/ |

Yes, I hold them on Tuesday and Friday usually, tho it's irregular... I'm often busy with other concerns, so they get held usually on a more biweekly basis. _____________________

My one quam about that guide was this line...
LSL is one of the finest scripting languages you will find. It's easy to learn and intuitive, yet deep enough to write the most complete programs the web can offer. Whether you're writing a simple sound script or a chess computer, this guide will help you get your feet wet. I eventually got it downgraded to this: LSL is a (mostly) clear and straightforward language. Its syntax and structures make sense, regardless of programming knowledge. Whether you're writing a simple sound script or a chess computer, this guide will help you get your feet wet. I still feel uneasy about it, though. But yes, the wiki is the best place for reference. Second best would probably be these forums, and third best might be the people on the ScriptingMentors wiki page. _____________________
