actually, I'll just say that if you are having problems with 403 Forbidden, and 404 Not Found messages when you are posting, this link might help you solve the problem...

now if only I could get someone to sticky that here....

Told ya...

Only Void would glean someone was having the 403 BS issue from one word... 'test'. I've pretty much quit wondering a long time a go if Void was a genius or not. She definitely is. I'm a pretty sharp cookie myself, but Void tends to make me feel about a sharp as a door knob.

The thread doesn't have fixes for the most recent issues people are having. I had major issues using the forums with Google Chrome for example, receiving odd errors, file not founds, 404s, etc, couldn't even send PMs. Forums are pretty broken on chrome, not everywhere, but in specific places, like the Scripting Tips forum it kept breaking on me especially, couldn't submit replies or create threads.

Switched back to Firefox, and voila, worked smoothly.

Makes me pretty sad, was just getting used to Chrome and really loving it, but the forums are a major past time of mine.

(And yes, I am -VERY- sure this is a browser issue, in fact, I tried to create the exact same 'test' thread as the OP three days ago)

I'm not very surprised. I used Chrome briefly and found myself swearing a lot because it refused to load pages that Firefox and IE had no trouble with.

ah come on, your memories cant be THAT short... granted it's been a few months since we had a lot of those posts (most of the 403's have been fixed, sort of, they are now gone or 404's =P ) but almost all of those posts said something like "test".

so I'm gonna pretend I just have better pattern recognition in my brain, because as faulty as my memory is, I have doubts that it's my memory that's better.

sorry about the chrome issues... you could try saving the page source from another browser locally and fiddling with it until you find what Chrome doesn't like...

I'd consider testing but I'm kinda busy cleaning up a trojan.fake-alert rootkit that seems to slide right by every major AV-soft, when it's even detected at all (so far only mcAfee detects it but doesn't stop it... real pain in the ass, since it seems to have damaged windows update in the removal process.)

I had a fake-alert PIA yesterday, well my son did and I had to talk him through it on the phone. Finally got it with Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.com.
